After a lifetime of obligations to others, what do I owe myself?
When everyone else is taken care of, what's left for me?
I've never stopped doing for others long enough to figure that out. Until now.
Today I start paying myself back. My time, more precious than money, will not be squandered on one-sided relationships with people who take advantage of my good nature.
Don't try to rush me. I'm banking this reclaimed time for pleasure. It's for daydreaming, prayerful reflection, walking in nature. Writing these words. Filling my own cup of joy.
Paying myself back is so liberating! I should have paid this debt years ago.
