Battling Censorship

I'm not easily offended, but censorship makes my blood boil. If there's something I don't want my child to read or watch or discuss, I'll let the principal know. That's my right. It is not my right to dictate which books are in the library or insist that teaching kids that the evils of slavery or The Holocaust is indoctrination.

What is "appropriate" and who gets to decide it? Certainly not our neo-fascist Florida governor.

We live in a country where books are banned but not semi-automatic rifles. Books are my weapon of choice. Kids need more information, not less. My goal this year is to buy a copy of every banned children's book. Next year I will put them in children's hands. Then they'll be armed with knowledge, the source of real power.

What they don't want you to know is what you must know, kids. Be radical and read it for yourself.

  1. May the FORCE of free knowledge be WITH YOU! Hope you don't get in trouble! Now that is the mindset of a repressed situation... being worried about getting in trouble for doing things that used to be "normal." So, you live in Florida? I'm just above you, in 'Bama. Yikes! (Macoff)
