My biggest day-to-day memory challenge is summoning up passwords for computer apps. I have a hard time remembering them and seem to have to reset them pretty often. I know there are people who use the same one all the time and I try to do that but requirements for these various apps sometimes require a capital letter and odd character and I won’t remember that part of the password. I store them all in a file on my computer.
My husband handles our finances and has another whole set of usernames (more complex than I would construct) and passwords that I sometimes have to dig out for use.
I didn’t have a cell phone for a long time and when I got mine, I didn’t have a password on it. Then for some reason I decided it needed one. Now I’d like to get rid of it and access the phone without that barrier. However, I can’t seem to be able to do so.
I like the fact that my Zoom account has storied frequently used addresses for me.
Life is a lot more complex than it was before we became slaves to our electronic devices. On the other hand, in some cases online access has negated the need for pieces of paper that can get lost.

Yep, on all counts. Your story captures the frustration as well as the give and get of this era of communication and access to information.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have a little notebook on my desk that has all my passwords in it. They're kind of haphazardly listed, but they're all there. No one else uses this desk (I'm retired). But I do get irritated even having to look them up in the notebook. (I have a system now for creating new ones: I am using the index of a specialized history book I have. I choose a proper name in the index and then add the page numbers that follow.) You're doing good, though! And in the end of this piece of writing you have a little con/pro list. Balance. (Macoff)
