It sometimes feels like I'm army crawling through my day to day. School forms, hair care for my curly haired kids, endless problems to solve of work, and keeping an eye out for joy.
In my daydreams, I barely touch the ground. In a mixture of parkour, capoieira, and the ease and playfulness of a otter through the ocean, I move from place to place and am surrounded by big trees, wild spaces and water. If only my day to day was as lush, green, and solitary as my dreams.
Instead, I squeeze in this writing on a rainy morning, while my teenager waits in the car for her friend to arrive at school, texting and commandeering the radio at the same time. A recipient of a solid eye roll as she yanks her backpack out of the car, I know I'm awake.

I'm glad you're squeezing time in for this writing. I get the "army crawl through [your] day to day." I particularly like "...and keeping an eye out for joy."
ReplyDeleteSuch vivid imagery: "In a mixture of parkour, capoieira, and the ease and playfulness of a otter through the ocean" Do keep the eye out for joy. And keep squeezing time in for writing.!!
ReplyDeleteHope you keep daydreaming whenever you get the chance.......... And writing, of course!
ReplyDeleteIt's very refreshing to have writings from someone as young as you! Life is different! A teenager! Your consciousness of all the layers of Being is really nice. (Macoff)
