Reading Rainbow

Reading has always provided an escape for me. I grew up reading and could disappear for hours in The Little House books. From there I moved on to Nancy Drew, the female sleuth. I always had a library card, and when I was older I discovered the biographical novels of Irving Stone. I read forbidden books, such as Valley of the Dolls, In Cold Blood, and The Adventurers found on the shelves of families I babysat for. My favorite aunt and I read The Outlander books as they were released then talked about Jamie and Claire. I can escape into imagining myself as Claire or as Ayla in The Clan of the Cave Bear or Eve in JD Robb’s Death series. Yes, books are a wonderful way to escape and I checked out many ebooks from my local library and read them on my iPad during the coronavirus lockdown.

  2. At one point in my young years, I was Meg, Jo, and Beth in turn. I never could quite get Amy, and I certainly didn't spend much time being Beth. Yikes! Thanks for this glimpse into your reading life!
