Too Many Cats

for Amy H

Paola is the eldest but
her differently abledness
Makes her seem young, innocent,
and it’s all the litter pans(!)
I keep to help her that make
me feel inflation more than anything.

Sandy is number one — really
because she’s the most even,
normal and she blinks her sometimes-
green-sometimes-gold eyes at me.

Wilson is a little muscle: shy
but attached to me like nobody sees
… because he disappears for you!

Tidbit with the nicked off ear
came in one winter and let it be known
she would not go out again — she’s
second oldest & stays out of the way.

Jackson is one crazy-eyed big red boy
— no telling what’s sneaking through
his mind but he lets me know he
needs me … and one eye on the door.

Bob lives up front, apart because
he could kill someone with a bite.
He cries about being left out nonetheless.

  1. Awwwww.... this is wonderful! But you leave your reader thinking that poor Bob has no love in his life. When he has... someone not you who lives in your house. (Macoff)
