Tonight in my body with yoga and
suddenly I awake again to the magic
of a frame and an upwelling of love
and what choice do I have but
to continue trying … in the face of
losing. Things will change but
nothing does, so there’ll be
damage and more unpleasantness
for the grand dame, my be-all.
An inordinate amount of solace
is afforded me by
the notion
the right recollection
of my artless mortality.
(always short lived because I think
first of the innocent extinct species — waste!
and second of all the kids I teach —
wanting nothing more than that
they become brave better thinkers)
