I’ve already written (day 1) about all the favorite charities that I support. One practice I’ve started since the pause is always having a ten dollar bill in my pocket since I use touch-less payment from my phone for everything and never carry a purse or even a wallet. One time the person in front of me at Trader Joe’s was a dollar short on his debit card for buying groceries. Out came my ten dollar bill: use this. We’ve had an increase in buskers playing in parking lots for tips and that is another recipient of my cash. I’ll hand it out the window of my car to the people begging near freeway off-ramps. A young man sitting on the curb in the grocery store parking lot didn’t look too good. I asked if he was okay and gave him a ten. I do this because I have the extra cash and it increases my human interactions. When I feel that currency in my pocket it reminds me to pay attention to the world around me so I don’t pass by the next recipient without noticing.

This is a beautiful practice you are doing. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I actually do the same, but with $5 bills! You are a loving soul! (Macoff)
