Listen Listen

I struggled with the prompt so I went back to the readings for today. Since it’s the Annunciation, the Magnificat was there for me to reread. It’s one of my favorite canticles. I wonder how I would respond to a visit by the angel Gabriel. The phrase that resonated with me is ‘Here am I, the servant of the Lord. I am the Lord’s servant.’ That is a mighty aspiration. To say yes to God. To listen for my calling and to proceed on that path. To listen, I have to set aside quiet time instead of keeping overly busy with my lists and calendar schedules. My watch does remind me to breathe mindfully for one minute each day. Sometimes even that is difficult to do if my monkey brain is chattering away. More will be revealed.

  1. "More will be revealed"! That is a fabulous ending sentence. Very fun. What sort of watch is this that tells you to breathe? I probably need one! (Macoff)

  2. "Here am I" was one of the most meaningful concepts (?), realities to me when I was a practicing Catholic. I loved especially the hymn "Here I Am, Lord" with the call "Whom Shall I Send?" and the response in other words "Send Me." Yours is a lovely, moving writing about that experience, that experience that is both truly human and truly divine. Thank you for this gift.
