Time To Learn

Almost 67 and there are so many things I haven't yet learned to do.

Like anything beyond basic cooking and meal planning. Like simple home repairs. Like installing a new modem and router. When I stop working, I must learn these to do these things for myself. Eating out often and employing handymen and tech support won't be happening.

I envy people who are handy or crafty or tech-savvy. Oh, to be like my grandmother! That woman could do anything.

My hands are eager but clumsy. I have to engage my brain to be successful. Brushing up on my French, learning to sing properly, returning to the classroom as an aide or substitute teacher would make good retirement goals. All require study as well as practice.

Time to learn as much as I possibly can. Yesterday I changed a toilet seat and planned meals for the week. Maybe that router swap isn't has hard as I imagine. In my head and in my hands, knowledge is power.

  2. The toilet seat change! That's a good accomplishment! More to come! Following directions (in manuals and assembly instructions) is a skill in itself! You likely have that one going for you! Yay! There are probably many things that you DO know how to do that you've been taking for granted. I'd love to hear more about your grandmother... (Macoff)
