This summer I will be in Durham, a short distance away, and with time on my hands. Mama has painstakingly tracked down hundreds of years of family history, but she's come up short on her paternal grandmother, a woman known as "Mary A" who was apparently born in central North Carolina. What was her maiden name? Did she die during the Civil War?
I've been entrusted with solving the grandmother mystery. With a little luck, maybe I can complete the gap in the family tree by Mama's 95th birthday in July. She's counting on me to deliver the goods on her grandma.
